  WE CAME TO SING!
by: NEAR, HOLLY W/ EMMA'S REVOLUTION
Tender and daring a cappella vocal  arrangements of some of Holly's most  requested songs are paried with some  of Emma's Revoltion's most popular songs and some new tracks that perfectly fit  the three woman's voices! Musical styles range from a meditation on "Study War No More" to a light hearted jazzy version  of "Swimming to the Other Side." The  harmonies on "Sky Dances" are divine and "Ministry of Oil" is a great political  commentary. Other highlights include  new versions of "Mountain Song," "1000  Grandmothers" and "West Virginia  Friend."

SING TO ME THE DREAM: UN CANTO SOLIDARIO
by: HOLLY NEAR
This historic live recording of the 1984 Peace in the Americas Tour with Holly  Near and Inti Illimani is full of  emotion, high energy and a united focus  to end the Pinochet reign of terror. The re-issue includes additional material  that did not fit on the original LP,  plus bonus tracks that represent the  creative collaboration between Near,  Mercedes Sosa, Quique Cruz and  Adrienne Torf.

LIGHT OF CHANGE DVD    (FEATURED ALBUM)
by: REAGON/NEAR/NEWCOMER
This live performance by three  remarkable singers and songwriters,  Holly Near, Carrie Newcomer and Bernice  Johnson Reagon, documents and unique and powerful collaboration of music and  message. Recorded live at the "Mix in  '06," a gathering of 4,000 women from  the United Church of Christ and the  Christian Church, the concert features  signature songs from each artist as well as collaborative pieces. Interwoven with the 19 songs performed during the show  are conversations with the artists,  recorded six months later, reflecting on their creative process and the power of  music to bring people together.

  SHOW UP    (FEATURED ALBUM)
by: HOLLY NEAR
This outspoken advocate for peace is a  powerful singer and a delightful story  teller. Recently nominated with the 1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Price, Holly's music continues to astound, exploding  with maturity and relentless hope. A  voice for world peace and one of the  founding mothers of the "women's music"  genre, her new songs are contemporary  and challenging, gleaned from decades of keen observation and political  sophistication. Highlights include  "Hattie and Mattie," "It's About Time,"  and "I Want You Gone Too."

  LIFELINE EXTENDED
by: NEAR, HOLLY/RONNIE GILBERT
Based on the classic 1983 recording,  Lifeline, by these two well known  women's and topical music artists, this  2 disc set of performances was drawn  from a legendary concert at the Great  American Music Hall in San Francisco.  In many ways a "greatest hits" album  from Holly and Ronnie, this expanded  recording features seven additional  tracks not available on the original.  Included are Ronnie Gilbert classics  from her days with the Almanac Singers  and the Weavers and Holly Near's more  recent powerful songs of social  commentary. And we at Goldenrod are  thrilled this disc is back in print!

  EARLY WARNING (SKY DANCES/WATCH OUT)
by: HOLLY NEAR
This wonderful re-issue from one of the  first artists Goldenrod carried includes tracks from two long out of print  albums, Watch Out! (1984) and Skydances  (1989). Considered a major force in  topical songwriting, many of the tracks  on this release are extremely current  in light of the events in late 2001.  An added bonus is the ending track, a  great song Holly recorded as part of a  Pete Seeger tribute album.

  HARP: A TIME TO SING!
by: NEAR/GUTHRIE/GILBERT/SEEGER
In September of 1984, four amazing  musicians firmly rooted in the tradition of political folk music joined together  to sing. Reagan was raising havoc all  over the world, AIDS was killing loved  ones, the anti-apartheid movement was  inspiring global activism and issues of  disarmament, feminism, gay & lesbian  rights, racism and access were being  hotly debated. Holly Near, Arlo Guthrie, Ronnie Gilbert and Pete Seeger provided  the soundtrack to the movement, with  love songs and liberation songs spanning the generations but united with their  common purpose. Includes thirteen extra  songs not included on the original!

  EDGE
by: HOLLY NEAR
This classic women's music foremother  returns with her first album of all new  material in nearly a decade! Her  politics are fierce and uncompromising  on empowering cuts like "Fired Up,"  "I Ain't Afraid" and "Standard White  Jesus." Holly's voice is as beautiful  as ever on this release, enhanced by  the great musicianship of guest players  such as the amazing Michael Manring,  among others. This album is a must-have  for any fan of women's music as well as  those just discovering Holly's work.

  SIMPLY LOVE (2 CD SET)
by: HOLLY NEAR
This 2 disc set contains a booklet  filled with photographs, telling stories from the largely unrecognized era  (1970's and 80's) of life changing music that coincided with incredible strides  in the women's and lesbian movements.  Twenty-eight song tell this story,  including covers of songs by women's  music greats Alix Dobkin, Bernice  Johnson Reagon (of Sweet Honey in the  Rock), Meg Christian, Ferron, Therese  Edell, Margie Adam, Linda Tillery, and  Cris Williamson. Special guest  appearances by Rhiannon, Ronnie Gilbert  and Adrienne Torf.

  THIS TRAIN STILL RUNS

WITH A SONG IN MY HEART - NEAR
by: HOLLY NEAR
Holly reflects in the liner notes to  this album, "I remember the songs my  parents sang around the house when I  was growing up...watching them reassured me there was love in the world, as the  sweet love songs of the '30's, '40's  and '50's reached for a lightness of  heart in the midst of social and  political unrest." She has recorded  15 of these classic songs here to  ensure that they live on for another  generation.
