Although this is a studio album, it  comes very close to capturing the energy and essence of a live Sweet Honey in the Rock performance. The music ranges  from the mesmerizing "Fulani Chant" to  the tender "Patchwork Quit" (a moving  song about the AIDS quilt) to the high  energy rap "(Women Should Be) A  Priority."  
 
  I GOT SHOES

This 1994 release for children became  an immediate favorite -- especially  when folks heard the inspiring rap song, "Young and Positive." Other highlights  include "Freedom Now" and "Run Molly  Run." Another bonus is the interspersed  teaching segments which help children  learn to count from one to ten in  English, Japanese, Swahili, French and  Spanish.

The first children's album by Sweet  Honey in the Rock, this is an album  your kids will love and you'll be happy  to hear it when they put it on (at least for the first twenty or thirty times!).  Includes well-known songs like "Make  New Friends" and "Cumbaya" alongside  great new songs like "The Little  Shekere" and "Everybody Ought to Know."  The songs were drawn from Dr. Reagon's  extensive experience as a scholar of  African-American children's lore from  the South and Aisha Kahil and Nitanju  Boldae Casel's workshops for younger  audiences.  
 
  LIVE AT CARNEGIE HALL

As the title says, this album was  recorded at a live performance at  Carnegie Hall in New Tork City in 1987.  The album garnered the group their first Grammy nomination for the song about  apartheid, "Emergency." Other highlights include "Beatitudes," "Are My Hands  Clean" (often referred to as "the shirt  song"), "Denko" and "Letter to Dr.  Martin Luther King."  
 
  OTHER SIDE - SWEET HONEY

Released simultaneously with Feel  Something Drawing Me On, this album  focused on the music that the group  calls "Black Song." Highlights include  "Mae Francis" (Woman, Hold My Hand), "No Images," Evelyn Harris' "Gift of Love"  and "Mandiacappella."  
 
  FEEL SOMETHING DRAWING ME ON

Released at the same time as The Other  Side, this album focused on traditional  black gospel music. And only Sweet Honey in the Rock could make Woodie Guthrie's  "I've Got to Know" a traditional black  gospel song - and they do it in their  amazing fashion. Other highlights  include "Waters of Babylon," the title  track and the incredible "In the Upper  Room" which never fails to get a concert audience on their feet and screaming.
