" TaDa had a difficult objective to accomplish; 1) Follow in the success of Jennie's awesome debut CD 'Does She Walk On Water'. 2) Avoid the 'sophomore slump' that plagues many artists, 3) Establish Jennie as a bonafide, talented singer/songwriter. TaDa delivers on all three counts. It is definitely a successful follow-up to DSWOW by producing at least 3 songs that received a great deal of radio airplay throughout the US. Sophomore slump? Nope, this CD delivers the goods and then some. In my opinion, it solidifies Jennie DeVoe as a truly talented singer/songwriter. From her slightly sarcastic slant on televangelists in "Come Down" or past relationships in "Feel It Out Loud" to trying to find one's self/place in "Somebody's Daughter" and "Hometown Gravity" she proves she's a songwriter capable of writing meaningful intelligent lyrics and delivering them with feeling and emotion.
TaDa also continues to show that songs are more than melodies, lyrics, harmonies, etc. by combining all of the various components of a song into one cohesive unit that is far more than just the sum of its parts. The CD continues to demonstrate the integration of the diversity of the band's musical genre influences into their songs. From the slighty country feel of "Hometown Gravity" to the funky trip-hop sound of "Forward In Time" to the jazzy "Don't Forget To Breathe" or the hard rockin' bluesy "Love Don't Come Around" this CD has a little of something to appeal to a broad audience that transcends age/gender/cultural/nationality boundaries.
Pop this CD into your player ... hit play then sit back in a comfy chair, close your eyes and open your mind and let Jennie's beautiful soulful (& sometimes sexy) powerhouse voice and the band's great music take you on sonic voyage into a lush, colorful and wonderful musical landscape.
