" Lovely and sublime, Margie Adam's "AVALON" will capture you with it's beauty and quiet passion. Bookended by two different versions of the shimmering title track, the heart of the album is the simple, eloquent "A Woman's Work Is Never Done". At the soul-center of all of Margie's music is her love and respect for Women; plainly spoken with clarity and strength. Her pure and typically understated vocals are stronger than ever, and lend the perfect shadings to each of her aural portraits. This set on the whole glows with easy grace and romance, and is delicately laced with her playful spirit and warm sexuality. A couple of rounds with "I'll Be Right Over" and it is your happy companion for days to come! As ever, her muse sails her inspired piano work into new perimeters that continue to delight and bring a sense of peace; like all of Adam's albums, "AVALON" often relaxes but never bores the listener. Her haunting instrumentals shine with a brilliance that is all her own. Here, a new electrifying version of "Waves", is brought to cascading rebirth by a full band, highlighted by Barbara Higbie's striking violin. It is to Adam's credit that her beautifully realized and unique version of Carole King and Gerry Goffin's "Will You Love Me Tomorrow ?" slowly blossoms in your ear, breathing new life into the classic tune as though you were hearing it for the first time; that to me, is the mark of a great artist.
